Mini-Transat 2001

La Rochelle - Lanzarote - Salvador de Bahia

september 22 nd, 2001

The Mini-Transat is the crossing of the Atlantic single-handed on a monohull of 6.5 meters without assistance.

More than 4000 miles to brave the waves and test boundaries of your own limits.

Children Action is the name of Hervé's boat. Moreover, it is the name of a Swiss foundation for which Hervé committed himself to raise funds.

Children Action provides assistance to underprivileged children in Switzerland and around the world.

Hervé will leave from La Rochelle on the 22 september 2001. He will then stop in Lanzarote (Canaries islands) after 1300 miles, then cross the equator to finally arrive in Brazil at Salvador de Bahia (3000 miles).

All that without any help, the routing being forbidden.

The Mini-Transat takes place every two years since 1977. For this edition, it has been renamed Transat 6.50. It is a prestigious international event attracting entries at all levels from more than a dozen countries. The "Minis" revealed a lot of stars and also act as a testing bench for the Vendée Globe's yachts.
